Just off
A little skewed
A sign that it’s been used
It’s true
Unreturnable
Betraying age
It pried a lid, opened a cage
Temper assuaged
Warped
A weathered face
Layers showing
Hem fraying
Most would ask
Why keep it close?
Gone
Are its better days
But I wont part
With tools misused
Then bent back
To rightful place
Ungraceful curve
Or character
Proof it holds silent stories
Of survival
I would swear it was mine
It would silently
Decline
To agree
For whom truly owns what
After a gently bent
Hooks a heart
So securely
