Mary Grace van der Kroef was born and raised in North Western Ontario. Her love of poetry and writing started at age fourteen, and she has been writing ever since. She is a wife, a mother of three beautiful children, and an amateur artist. She lives with her family in the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario, Canada.

Mary Grace writes from a Christian worldview. She believes art, and the art of the written word is a powerful form of worship and ministry. She endeavours to encourage others with the words she writes.

She has been a member of the World Guild since June 2020.

Branches in Bloom released on August 1st, 2023
A collection of 50+ poems focused on the theme of nature.

Words of Weight was officially published on October 14th, 2022. (Mary’s newsletter subscribers were gifted early e-copies.)

A collection of 36 poems written for prompt words submitted by Mary’s newsletter subscribers.

The Branch That I Am was released on November 2nd, 2021. (Early release on September 13, 2021.)

A collection of 26 poems on the theme of mental health, chronic illness, and faith. Poems of prayer, questions, and perceived answers. A book of hope.


Short Fiction:

October 31st, 2022 ‘Underground United’ saw publication in the Wayward & Upward anthology edited and released by Off Topic Publishing.

December 1st, 2021. Bright Flash Literary Review published Mary’s micro-fiction piece ‘Drops‘.

October 15, 2021 Mary’s short story ‘Fireflies of Red and Blue‘ was published in print and online in Honeyguide Magazine‘s first anniversary issue. (Issue 3 available in print and eforms from their shop.)

April 15, 2021 ‘Our Forest on an Artist’s Conk‘, a short story, was published online by Hencroft Hub, in their ISSUE ONE themed ‘fungus’.


Poetry:

September 27th, 2022 ‘Never Empty‘ was featured online in Ekstasis Magazin‘s Autumn Collection.

June 1st. 2022 Mary’s poems ‘Walnut Greens’ and ‘Falling Purpose’ appeared in Issue 23 Summer 2022 of Door is a Jar Magazine. This issue is available in print and ebook on Amazon.

May 7th, 2022 Paddler Press included Mary’s poem ‘Starving Overtime‘ in the collaborative collection ‘The Covid Verses‘. It is available in print from the Paddler Press Website.

May 6th, 2022 Mary’s poems ‘Omnipresent’ and ‘Things Made‘ were published in The Heart Of Flesh Literary Journal Issue Seven, now available to read online, or in print HERE.

April 20th, 2022  Mental Rhythm published Disconnect in their first online Issue.

September 28th 2021, The Grief Dialogues published ‘Hosanna Joy‘ on their guest stories’ website.

August 6th, 2021 Calla Press graciously published ‘Hope‘ on their digital platform.

July 30th – Aug. 1st, 2021 Agape Review published Mary’s poems ‘Love Is’, ‘Self Control’, and ‘Goodness’, on their digital platform.

June 1st, 2021: ‘Arachnid Artist,’ went live in the Dwelling Literary’s BUGS UNDER THE RUG Issue. Page 13.

May 25th 2021: ‘Splinter,’ was published in Fahmidan Journal‘s Issue 6: Autoimmune & Mental Health Warriors. Page 10 – 11.

May 1st, 2021: ‘Pots of Hope‘ was published by Dwelling Literary in the GREENHOUSE Issue. Page 22.

March 31st, 2021: Lothlorien Poetry Journal published Enthroned on Stone and River Witch.

December 1st, 2020: Mary’s poem “Reservoir of Tears” was included in Kitchen Sink Magazine’s second Issue. This issue can be downloaded for free on their website.

August 2020: The poem, ‘Sit‘, was chosen for the ‘Best of Kindness’ anthology, after entering the 2020 ‘Best Of Kindness’ competition, held by the Origami Poetry Project. This anthology is now available on Amazon.com.

In June 2020, her poem, ‘The Branch’, was runner-up in the ‘In The Beginning’ writers competition poetry category, held by the Word Guild. (https://thewordguild.com/)

November 24, 2023 ‘A Proverbs 31 Woman, My Mom‘ was republished on the Ericka Clay blog as a guest post. (It had originally been published on Ericka Clay’s previous website for Mother’s Day 2023)

January 8th, 2022 ‘Winter’s Harvest‘ was published in the third issue of Paddler Press, All Together. digital and physical copies are available HERE.

November 15th, 2021 Calla Press published the Creative None Fiction story ‘The Pansy’s Purpose‘.

November 3rd, 2021 The Edge of Humanity Magazine published The Art of Remembering in their Human Condition category.

May 29, 2021 Springs of Living Water, a blog post/article was published on the Divine Purpose Magazine’s website.
